Delegation That Builds Your Team

We've talked about coaching, asking better questions and giving feedback. This is where it all comes together. Because delegation is where you actually start to see whether your team is growing or remaining dependent on you.
Most leaders don't struggle with delegation because they don't want to let go. They usually feel like it's just easier to do it themselves. As a result, they hold on to more than they should.
On the flip side, they may delegate without providing enough clarity or follow through, resulting in the work being incomplete so they end up steping back in anyway.
Delegation isn't just about handing something over. It's about building someone else's ability to take ownership of it. This is where many leaders get stuck. Delegation requires you to slow down just enough to:
Be clear on what success looks like
Give the person space to think and work through it
Stay involved without taking it back
How This Connects to Coaching and Feedback
Coaching helps your team think through the work. Feedback helps them improve along the way. Delegation gives them the opportunity to actually do it. Without all three, development doesn't really happen.
Why This Matters
If everything runs through you, your team can't grow. And if your team can't grow, your business can't either. When delegation is done well, it creates capacity and builds capability.
Strong teams aren't built by doing more. They are built by developing people who can do more.
